Steve Brine MP, the Public Health Minister, visited Bexleyheath on Thursday morning (7th June) at the invitation of local MP, Rt. Hon. Sir David Evennett, to meet leading local health professional, officials and local Councillors.
Sir David raised some of the local public health issues during a House of Commons debate on Childhood Obesity in Bexley, and subsequently invited the Minister to visit the Borough.
The meeting took place at the Civic Offices with Council Leader Cllr Teresa O’Neill OBE in the Chair, and was organised by Dr Anjan Ghosh, Director of Public Health and Bexley Council.
Among those participating were Bexley Chief Executive, Gill Steward, Theresa Osborne, Managing Director of NHS Bexley CCH, as well as local Councillors.
The meeting highlighted the challenges facing Bexley Borough, the proactive and innovating work being carried out in the area of public health and the questions around resources.
