The Sports Minister, Rt Hon David Evennett MP, welcomed pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 from Harris Academy Greenwich to Portcullis House on Tuesday 26 April.
Mr Evennett gave the students a short speech on the history of Parliament, as well as his own role as the MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford. He then discussed his position as the Sports Minister and what the Government is doing to promote sport across the country.
The Minister also highlighted the various benefits of participating in sport, including keeping physically and mentally active, building friendships, and being part of the community.
The visit concluded with a question and answer session on sport, in which pupils quizzed Mr Evennett on a range of issues, including the impact leaving the EU would have on sport, the legacy of the 2012 Olympics, getting people involved in a range of sports, and the FIFA World Cup bidding process.
