Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has criticised Southeastern Railway for their continued poor performance, following the publication of the latest National Rail Passenger Survey results (27 January).
The survey took place before the recent Bexleyheath Line closure, which saw massive disruption for local commuters. Their scores for reliability and punctuality, and frequency all fell. Just 31% of those surveyed were satisfied with the way Southeastern handles delays. Overall satisfaction with the company was static at 75%. Southeastern remain in the bottom places of the passenger satisfaction table (25th out of 26).
All of the rail operators in the bottom four places in the table – Gatwick Express, Southern, Southeastern and Thameslink – are all part of the same company.
Mr Evennett said “Complaints about Southeastern is one of the biggest issues in my postbag now due to their poor service and incompetence. As a commuter myself, I share the frustrations of my constituents who have been let down by a company that is out of touch with what passengers want and incapable of running a good service. Southeastern’s management cannot continue to ignore complaints about satisfaction.
“I am glad that the Government is devolving local rail services to TfL, as I believe that this will lead to the improvements to punctuality, reliability, frequency, customer service and culture that constituents need and deserve. Southeastern are not delivering for local people”.
