Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has criticised Southeastern’s performance at a special meeting convened by the Rail Minister, Claire Perry MP, this morning, 10 September. The Minister hosted a Service Delivery Summit with Network Rail, Southeastern, Passenger Focus and Members of Parliament at London Bridge Station to discuss the Thameslink programme and rail services in the South East.
Mr Evennett used the opportunity to raise complaints on behalf of constituents about overcrowding, train lengths, delays, information and customer satisfaction and challenged several statistics presented about performance.
MPs also heard about proposals for the Christmas period, which would see a substantial reduction in the services offered due to the London Bridge redevelopment.
Mr Evennett commented “My constituents do not believe rail services have improved with particular problems on peak time trains. Southeastern not are listening to the genuine concerns being expressed by their customers about quality and punctuality. I will continue to hold them to account for their failures, and I shall be making strong representations when the new franchise is put out to tender.”
