Rt Hon David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was the Guest Speaker at Bexley College’s Celebration of Success ceremony on Thursday evening, 16 July.
The event, which took place at Christ Church in Erith, saw a number of students receive awards for their achievements in their subject areas and presentations by the Principal for outstanding success. Lecturers were also recognised for their innovation, support for students and contribution to the College.
During his speech after the presentations, Mr Evennett said “Every time I am invited to your awards ceremony, I am always impressed with the dedication and passion shown by students to learning. So can I start by congratulating each and every one of you on your achievements? These awards recognise the time and effort you all put in to your studies and the new skills that you have learned during your time here.
“This is a very important time for you, the College and for our country. For you, as you begin to find new opportunities with the skills and qualifications you have learned here. For the College, as it becomes a beacon for learning in South East London and also for our country, as education and skills become an even more important issue for the Government.
“Maximise your opportunities – make that difference to your lives, your families, your friends and your country. Good luck and I wish you all success for the future.”
