Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett is pictured presenting a Halifax Giving Extra Award to volunteer Guide Dog Trainers Malcolm and Jean Moore on Tuesday morning, 24 February. The presentation took place at the Building Society’s branch in Sidcup High Street.

The awards recognise those who go the extra mile and make a positive difference in their community. Regional Winners are presented with £300 of reward vouchers.

Malcolm and Jean, from Sidcup, have trained 16 guide dogs who have all gone on to live with a visually impaired person to give them independence. They take the dogs as puppies into their home and train them until they are ready and they have been doing this for 10 years. They receive no payment for this and the dogs become part of their family.

Mr Evennett said “I am delighted to present Malcolm and Jean with their Giving Extra Award and I commend their commitment to helping those with visual impairments by training Guide Dogs. The time, effort and dedication required is huge and I wish them continued to success.”
