Speaking at the AGM of Christchurch branch Conservatives in Bexleyheath yesterday, Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett highlighted the policies implemented by Conservative Ministers to support the low paid.
Rebutting criticisms from Church of England Archbishops as “out of touch” he said that lower taxes, more jobs and welfare reforms were making a real difference to lives of millions across the country.
Mr Evennett said “We’ve cut taxes for millions of families on low incomes. There are 1000 more people in work locally than there were 5 years ago. Wages are rising faster than inflation and our welfare reforms are making work pay, whilst the richest in our society pay more in tax.
“Despite the significant economic and financial problems we inherited from Labour, we have been able to take action to help people with the cost of living and create more opportunities.”
