Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett attended a Summit hosted by Rail Minister Claire Perry at the House of Commons on Thursday morning (22 January).
Representatives of Southeastern Railway and Network Rail were called in front of Members of Parliament for South East London and Kent to account for the many problems on the line since the franchise was extended via a Direct Award, last year and to discuss the London Bridge redevelopment.
MPs were also given a presentation on plans by Southeastern to improve their services.
Mr Evennett said “Information from Southeastern has been appalling. Services are just delayed or cancelled without explanation. People have not been able to get on overcrowed trains. In my opinion, Southeastern don’t seem to understand or care about their passengers.”
Commenting afterwards, Mr Evennett said “I regularly take up cases on behalf of constituents complaining about Southeastern’s performance and I will continue to lobby for the improved quality, capacity and punctuality that are so desperately needed.”
