David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has expressed his concerns following the announcement by Tesco today that they will not be proceeding with their proposed development on the former Civic Offices site in Bexleyheath.
The Chief Executive of the company wrote to Mr Evennett today to advise that due to the company’s problems nationally, they would not be building a store on the site.
Mr Evennett said “I am naturally disappointed by Tesco’s decision as I am concerned that Bexleyheath’s future will suffer as a result of the company’s failings nationally. Tesco urgently needs to outline what their plans will now be for the former Civic Offices site, which is now just an unsightly hole in the ground. They cannot be allowed to let this site deteriorate, like they have done in other places.”
He will be arranging to meet with the company’s representatives shortly.
