Ministers Visit Bexleyheath Army Reservists

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, and Defence Minister Julian Brazier MP were special guests at the 71st (City of London) Yeomanry Signal Regiment’s Drill Night at the Bexleyheath TA Centre on Tuesday night, 4 November.

Mr Evennett, also a Minister in the Government, was invited to the event by Mr Brazier, who himself was a Reservist for 13 years. After a full brief, the VIPs and guests toured the Army Reserve Centre, and were introduced to members of 265 Support Squadron, and members of 38, 31, and 68 Signal Squadron (all part of 71 Signal Regiment). They also met Reservists from the Unit’s Medical Detachment, the Light Aid Detachment (the Electrical and Mechanical section of the Regiment), and new recruits.

Mr Evennett said ““I was delighted to join the Minister on his visit to the Bexleyheath-based 71st (City of London) Yeomanry Signal Regiment for their Drill Night. I enjoyed learning about their operations and plans. It was good to have the opportunity to meet and chat with the Reservists in the Club House after formal discussions with the Commanding Officer. Their service and dedication is inspirational.”
