Evennett attends Veterans Club anniversary lunch

The Veterans Club of Bexley celebrated the 60th anniversary of the opening of their clubhouse with a special lunch yesterday, 23 October.

The Club started in 1944 and their Danson Road clubhouse was officially opened on 23 October 1954, 60 years ago.

A party of guests which included Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett, the Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Howard Marriner, and his wife Dianne, and Danson Park Councillor John Waters, were given a tour and history of the clubhouse, before joining members at the Boathouse for an anniversary lunch.

Mr Evennett said “The Veteran’s Club of Bexley, together with the Rotary, have been an important part of the Bexleyheath community for 70 years and I wish them and their 250 members continued success in the future.”
