Cabinet star entertains at Bexleyheath dinner

Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, was the guest speaker at the Bexleyheath and Crayford Conservative Association Annual Dinner last night (22 October). The event, organised by Association Deputy Chairman Matthew Scott, was held at a packed Prada’s Bar and Grill in Broadway, Bexleyheath.

Association Chairman Simon Windle introduced Mr Javid, who has risen rapidly through the ranks of the Party. He was elected as MP for Bromsgrove in 2010 and was the first person of that year’s Parliamentary intake to be appointed to the Cabinet, after stints as a PPS and Treasury Minister.

Mr Javid spoke about the forthcoming General Election, the issues facing our country and the success of Conservative Ministers in Government, such as education, welfare reform and dealing with the economic mess left by the previous Labour Government. He also answered questions about Europe, trade and immigration.

Amongst the 86 guests at the Dinner were Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett and his wife Marilyn, James Brokenshire MP and his wife Cathy, Bexley Mayor Cllr Howard Marriner and the Mayoress Dianne, Bexley Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Gareth Bacon and Bexley CF Chairman Elizabeth Anderson.
