Life as a Government Whip

David Evennett MP was the guest speaker at the Bexley Rotary Club meeting on Monday 15th September, held at the Holiday Inn in Bexley.

Mr Evennett, who is an Honorary Rotarian, spoke about his job as Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury and Government Minister. He explained the role of the Whips in organising and managing House of Commons business, the Human Resources responsibilities, and the Ministerial duties involved.

After his speech he took a variety of questions on Parliamentary reform, the role of the constituency MP, and the problems of Coalition Government.
