David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was the guest speaker at the 2013/4 Bexley College Celebration of Achievement awards on Thursday night, 10 July.
After the students received their awards, Mr Evennett congratulated all the pupils and lecturers on their success and spoke about the importance of skills.
He said “You should take pride in your achievements- today represents a real success. It is not always easy to study when we all have so many competing pressures for our time such as jobs, family and friends. But you have done it – now take your new skills, talents and qualifications outside into our community and make a real difference.
Maximise your opportunities – make that difference to your lives, your families, your friends and your country. Good luck and I wish you all success for the future.”
It was also announced that Bexley College had been deemed “good” by Ofsted.
Mr Evennett commented “I would also like to congratulate Danny, the Principal, his team and all the lecturers and staff at the College for the recent Ofsted report. Not only was the report “good”, but for the first time, the independent inspectors said that Bexley College has “outstanding” features. You know that. I know that. Now everyone in our community will know of it.”
