Evennett’s political debate with Bexleyheath Academy pupils

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was the special guest speaker at an event at Bexleyheath Academy in Woolwich Road on Friday afternoon, 21 March. Pupils from all year groups were invited to learn about the role of a Member of Parliament, Mr Evennett’s career as a teacher and insurance broker, his political journey to Westminster and his job as a Government Minister and Whip.

After his speech, he took part in a Question and Answer session with pupils, who asked a variety of questions on issues such as Ukraine, the European Union, international aid, defence and education.

Mr Evennett said “I was impressed by the way in which pupils engaged and their knowledge of current affairs. They are a credit to the School, who can be proud of their participation in this session. I believe that events like these are important to help young people understand the role of Parliamentarians and inspire them to become more involved in our democratic process in the future.”
