David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomed the decision by the Royal Mail to progress plans to insert Crayford as a distinct locality in local postal addresses.
After agreement with the Council, Royal Mail will write to local residents about the change after they have checked that the proposed boundaries have been correctly captured. The plan will proceed so long as 20% of residents do not object.
The proposal will see many addresses changed so that they will be recognised as “Crayford, Dartford.”
Mr Evennett said “I am pleased that at least the historic town of Crayford will get recognition from the Royal Mail. I hope that more residents will support this change and include ‘Crayford’ in their postal address.”
