David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, attended two local events organised as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee morning on Friday 27 September.
It is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event of the year. They raised £15 million nationwide in 2012 with 115,000 signing up.
The first event he attended was the Barnehurst Community Coffee Morning, organised by Barnehurst Road resident Anne Rawlings. In an effort to raise extra funds, Mrs Rawlings and Hilary Haslam offered drinks to commuters en route to Barnehurst Station, raising an extra £90. Mr Evennett and his wife Marilyn joined them later in the morning for coffee and cake at Mrs Rawlings’ home.
The second event he attended took place at St Paulinus Church Hall in Crayford, where he met with church members and local residents.
Mr Evennett said “I am pleased that there were so many different coffee mornings taking place in my constituency. I believe that this shows how much the community values the work that Macmillan do supporting people with cancer and their families.”
