David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, met with representatives of the Environment Agency in Danson Park on Friday morning (6 September) to discuss issues relating to the lake.
He met with the Regional Manager Andrew Pearce and his colleagues Chris Hazelton and Jamie Lloyd following two incidents – the sewage that contaminated the lake in 2011 and the death of thousands of fish last year. Mr Evennett learned about the action taken by the Environment Agency following the incidents and the steps they are taking to restock the lake in the coming years.
Mr Evennett said “The lake in Danson Park is a popular local attraction for water sports and fishermen so the cleanliness of the water and the health of the wildlife are very important. I welcome the action that has been taken to tackle the problems. I hope that those responsible are held to account and I will continue to monitor the situation.”
