David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, paid a visit to Caterham Cars’ Headquarters in Kennet Road in Crayford on Wednesday morning, 28 August.
He met with Graham MacDonald, the Chief Executive Officer, and Simon Lambert, the Chief Motorsport and Technical Officer to discuss the company’s plans following an ownership change in 2011, which include increasing production on the site, and listened to issues raised regarding bureaucracy and administration. He was also given a tour of the factory and shown orders in production and other projects they have been working on.
Mr Evennett said “Caterham Cars have been an important part of the local business community for a number of years and I am pleased that they are still going strong. The UK car industry is performing well despite the tough economic climate with sales rising and outperforming most European countries. Caterham Cars in particular has done well domestically and in terms of exports. I welcome the plans to increase output which I hope will lead to new jobs being created.”
