David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, met with lung cancer nurse specialists at a Parliamentary event organised by the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation on Tuesday afternoon (17 July).
Every year, over 40,000 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK. Lung cancer nurse specialists play a vital role in the delivery of high quality care and treatment to patients with lung cancer. They are in an ideal position to care for patients, ensuring that their care needs are addressed from referral to the lung cancer team, to diagnosis, through treatment and survivorship including end-of-life care.
Mr Evennett said “Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in the UK for both men and women. Nurse specialists do vital work supporting those who suffer from lung cancer and their families at every stage and it was helpful to meet with them to discuss issues relating to care.”
