David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomed the publication of a Draft Bill which would require a referendum to be held on Britain’s membership of the European Union before 31 December 2017, following a recent speech making this new pledge.
Mr Evennett said “The Bill would put into law David Cameron’s absolute commitment to hold a vote on our membership of the EU after the next General Election. I will be supporting this Bill as it allows the British public to have their say on this important issue, once the Prime Minister has renegotiated a fresh deal for Britain. Only a Conservative Government will stand up for Britain’s interests in EU and can deliver this referendum. Labour and Liberal Democrats do not support giving the people a voice.”
