David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, is pictured with Darren Tobin, Chief Executive of Crossroads Care Bexley, and Old Bexley and Sidcup MP James Brokenshire at Portcullis House on Monday afternoon, 3 December.
They attended a reception organised by Carers Trust to give Members of Parliament, carers and charity supporters a preview of the findings of a report that they plan to publish next week on breaks for carers.
In November 2010, the Department of Health announced funding of £400million through the NHS to support carers breaks over four years.
Mr Evennett said “I know that carers do vital work across my constituency to help those in need. This extra support is important as it should allow carers of all ages to take a break and prevent them from developing their own mental and physical health issues. I would urge anyone who needs extra help or advice about their caring responsibilities to contact Carers Direct on 0808 802 0202.”
