The event was held at St Martin’s Church in Erith Road, Barnehurst and featured a number of readings from local residents and groups, including Mr Evennett, Age UK Chief Executive Paul Goulden, Police Borough Commander Victor Olisa and former Bexley Mayors John Harrington and Rita Sams. Mr Evennett’s reading was from the Bible, Luke 2 verses 8-20.

As well as traditional Christmas Carols and songs, guests enjoyed a recital by the Bird College Concern Orchestra, who played Mozart’s Allegro in C from Church Sonata Number 12. During the interval refreshments were served.
