David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomed today’s announcement that Post Office Ltd had won the contract to provide DVLA Front Office Counter Services (13 November).
In a House of Commons Written Statement, the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, announced that Post Office Ltd had won the seven year contract, with an option to extend for another three years, “to offer DVLA services at over 4,700 outlets for road tax and vehicle transactions, 750 of which will also cater for driver licensing”.
Mr Evennett made representations to Ministers after receiving emails and letters from constituents about the future of Post Office services.
Commenting on the decision, Mr Evennett said “This is good news for Post Offices. I am a big supporter of our local Post Offices who provide important, accessible services at the heart of the community. I welcome the Government’s decision as this will help to secure their future.”
