David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was the special guest at the Bexley Stop Smoking Service’s Advisor of the Year awards at the Bexleyheath Marriott Hotel on Wednesday afternoon, 18 July.
Mr Evennett gave a speech praising the work of the advisers and spoke about the importance of helping people to quit smoking.
He said “The NHS Stop Smoking Services have made a substantial contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of over 2 million people who have used the professional expertise of Stop Smoking teams over the last ten years. Here in Bexley we have a really dedicated and successful service who this year have supported 1643 people to stop smoking. This is due to the hard work and time investment of all of you in the room today. Stopping smoking saves lives and you are to be congratulated on the very important work you do to help smokers make the change back to non-smoker.”
He then presented the awards to the top three advisers. Certificates were also awarded to individual practices for their achievements.
