David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, paid a visit to Bexley Accessible Transport Scheme’s base in Thames Road on Friday morning.
He met with BATS Chief Executive Andrew Grieve and Chairman Dennis Roberts to discuss their activities locally. The main topic of conversation was their community bus route, the 938. BATs were the first organisation in London to be granted a permit to run a community bus route, however, they expressed concerns about the route not being eligible for concessionary fares. Mr Evennett will be pursing this matter for them with the appropriate bodies.
They also discussed the variety of services BATS currently provides, plans for expansion, including new services, their contract to provide some shuttle services during the Olympics and their involvement in the recent test event.
