A Budget for those who aspire to do the right thing

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, described this week’s Budget as “good news for hard-working people” during a speech in the House of Commons yesterday (22 March).

He said “This Budget goes a long way towards dealing with the issues facing the United Kingdom, and I believe it will be strongly supported across the country. It is good news for hard-working people on moderate and low incomes. It helps families and businesses, and, most importantly, it encourages aspiration.”

Mr Evennett praised the Government’s proposals to raise the income tax personal allowance by another £1100 in 2013, increase the state pension by £5.30 per week, invest in more apprenticeships, cut corporation tax for businesses and support a number of key infrastructure projects.

Concluding, he said “The Budget demonstrates that this Government are firmly on the side of those who aspire to do the right thing for themselves, their families, their businesses and this country, and I strongly back it.”
