David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomed the decision taken by Bexley Council to proceed with plans that will allow direct step-free access to Platform 2 at Crayford Station.
Mr Evennett has been campaigning for the existing gate on the Kent-bound Platform to be opened to an existing pathway that runs up to Station Road. His campaign has included an Adjournment debate in the House of Commons, Parliamentary Questions, meetings with Southeastern and Sainsburys and representations to both Ministers and Bexley Council.
Commenting on the decision, Mr Evennett said “I am delighted that progress has been made and Bexley Council are going to undertake the necessary works. This is good news for rail users with mobility problems, mothers with children and other passengers who will benefit from direct access to and from Platform 2”.
