Evennett backs No Smoking Day campaign

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, is encouraging constituents to quit smoking on Wednesday 14 March, which is National No Smoking Day.

One in five Bexley residents smoke and worryingly, 17% of women in Bexley smoke through pregnancy. Figures for the whole country show that two thirds of smokers do want to quit.

Mr Evennett said “Tobacco consumption remains the greatest single cause of preventable illness and early death, and it is also a big contributor to health inequalities. We are lucky to have an excellent Stop Smoking Service in Bexley who are helping hundreds of people to stop smoking every year. I would therefore encourage all those who still smoke, and want to give up, to contact them and be part of National No Smoking Day. Your life depends on it.”
