Vast increase in local apprenticeship places

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomed the news that the number of people benefiting from an apprenticeship place locally has increased by 62% in the last year.

Figures released by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills show that in 2010/11, 620 apprenticeships were started in Bexleyheath and Crayford, compared with 380 in 2009/10, a rise of 62%. Nationally, the number of apprenticeship starts increased by 58% to 442,700.

Mr Evennett said “Apprenticeships provide valuable work-based learning and employment experience to people of all ages. I am delighted that so many more people and businesses locally are benefiting from the advantages that apprenticeships offer and the Government’s commitment to skills.”
