Disappointment at franchise extension

It was announced by the Department for Transport this morning that Southeastern Railway has met the performance targets set by the previous Government in 2005 and their franchise will be extended by two years.

You can read the Rail Minister’s letter to David Evennett MP about the decision by clicking here.

Commenting on the decision, Mr Evennett said “I am very disappointed that the franchise has been extended as I do not believe that their performance has been good enough. I expect much better from them over the next two years and I will continue to hold them to account”.
