Commonwealth delegation visits Bexleyheath

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, hosted a visit of eight delegates from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association to Bexleyheath on Friday morning (11 March).

The group, which included six Members of Parliament and two Parliamentary clerks, were first given a walking tour of Bexleyheath town centre, during which they met local shopkeepers, residents and a Police Community Support Officer. They then visited the Bexleyheath and Crayford Conservative Association office at 17 Church Road, Bexleyheath, for coffee, where Mr Evennett spoke about the role of a constituency representative and answered questions about the voting system, making representations to Ministers and his political background.

Afterwards, the delegation visited local charity Bexley Mencap to meet the Manager, Steve Davies, and learn about their work supporting adults with learning disabilities. The final part of the programme was a visit to Bexley Civic Offices to meet with Council Leader Cllr Teresa O’Neill.
