David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was the guest speaker at the March meeting of the St Martin’s Branch of the Mothers Union on International Women’s Day (Tuesday 8 March) when his subject was “Life as an MP in 2011”. The event took place in the Mazim Room of St Martin’s Church, in Erith Road, Barnehurst.
Mr Evennett spoke about his reasons for going into politics, the role of the modern MP, his work in the Commons and the constituency and the importance of a three line whip. He praised the Mothers Union for their work and campaigns to promote and safeguard the family.
Afterwards, he answered questions about the role of a PPS, governing in Coalition, family policies and religion in Parliament. Mr Evennett is pictured with Mothers Union members.
