David Evennett MP is encouraging constituents to ensure that they are ready for the Digital Switchover in London next year.
Statistics obtained by Mr Evennett through a written Parliamentary Question show that as of November 2010, 81% of people had converted to digital television in London, and 79% were aware that the Switchover is happening.
Leaflets will be sent to every home during the 6 months before the Switchover; there will also be advertising, roadshows and onscreen captions.
People can get impartial advice on their situation by visiting Digital UK’s website, www.digitaluk.co.uk, or by telephoning 08456 505050.
There is also a Digital Switchover Help Scheme for those aged 75, disabled, registered blind or partially sighted and anyone who is normally resident in a care home. They can be contacted on 0800 40 85 900 or by visiting www.helpscheme.co.uk.
