David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was one of fourteen Conservative MPs representing South East London and Kent constituencies who attended a meeting with Southeastern Railway’s Managing Director Charles Horton in Parliament yesterday (8 December). The meeting was organised and Chaired by Maidstone and The Weald MP Helen Grant.
Mr Evennett criticised Southeastern Railway for the lack of information offered at stations and on their website, as well as the poor service overall during the recent inclement weather.
Commenting on the meeting, Mr Evennett said “Southeastern’s performance and attitude throughout last week was appalling. They did not seem prepared for the weather conditions experienced and their communication with passengers was poor. However, I fear that they will not take the necessary steps to learn from their mistakes and prevent such poor service in the future. Following this meeting, I will be writing to the Minister to express my deep concerns”.
