David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, was the special guest at Bexley Care Trust’s Stop Smoking Service awards presentation at the Marriot Hotel in Bexleyheath yesterday (Wednesday 7 July).
Mr Evennett spoke about the successes of the Bexley Stop Smoking Service in helping people to quit and potentially saving them from a premature death.
Congratulating those present, Mr Evennett said “Stopping smoking saves lives and your role in supporting your patients cannot be underestimated. You have all worked very hard and today is an opportunity to thank you for the sterling work you have done over the past year.”
He added “15 advisors will be acknowledged today for their achievement but even if you have only supported one person to quit – you have potentially saved someone from a premature death”.
Mr Evennett is pictured with advisor of the year Lynn Arnold, who helped 99 people quit smoking in the last year. In second place was Lindesey Cope and Cathy Carter came third.
